Style of Middle-earth

When I was posting on this blog on a consistent basis, the  Region Series  was my favorite series I've ever worked on. I also had two other series' on this blog,  Crafted Sets with Cosmetic Value  and  Matching A Steed , but the region series was truly my favorite. There's something so magical about taking a region, an entire region, and trying to form an outfit inspired by that region. It is truly a difficult task. Every single region is so unique and diverse, and while it may maintain the same general feel, every single village or homestead within that region each has its own flair. It's odd that I chose Wildermore as the region to bring back this series with. All in all, it is one of my least favorite regions in the game. It is beautiful, yes, but it is incredibly desolate and forlorn. It has been over two years since I last made a post. Not only that, it has been two full years since I have made a brand new outfit in LoTRO from scratch. I wasn't planning on coming back to this blog, just because I group a lot more and primarily focus on end game content nowadays. But out of the blue came this outfit. I had been working on putting back together an old outfit but I was sent an idea for some Ost Dunhoth shoulders and before I knew it I had put together a corsair inspired ensemble.  The shoulders were the base piece for this outfit. I loved the fact that they still looked light, while having the wing like feel as well, which can be harder to find (think heavy Nadhin shoulders). It has been quite sometime, two and a half months to be exact, since I last posted. There have been a lot of contributing factors as to why I haven't posted, but the main reasons why were 1. I mentally needed a break. 2. I haven't had much inspiration lately. I feel like I should only be posting outfits that are worthy of recognition, and if I kept cranking out weekly outfits, they wouldn't be the high quality that I expect from myself. In the month of December, I decided to do something I had never done before: purchase a quest pack. You might be curious why I never purchased one before, but it was mainly a money and commitment issue. With the purchase of the Quad Expansion pack, the amount of gorgeous cosmetic pieces I gain access to is immense. I am very happy with the pieces I have been able to add to my cosmetic library.  Firstly, I want to apologize for having this up late. I didn't get the screenshots taken until late last night, so that put me behind schedule. It has been some months since I did the last part in my region series of outfits. I'm hoping to one day create an outfit for all of the regions of Eriador, and then move on to Rhovanion. I knew I wanted the base colors to be browns and greys. Even though Bree is a very beautiful region, the city is very simple in its colors, and I wanted to reflect that in the outfit. The hauberk/armour used in this outfit is a favorite of mine. It has leather and metal in it, and it dyes quite nicely. The shoulder-guards were easily chosen, as the brown in them matches the browns in the lower part of the hauberk, and it is quite a simple piece.  Simple boots and gloves were added, the gloves of a musty grey color, and the boots brown with white. I had an idea for an outfit that was brown and woody, but gave off the feel of being fit for a lore-master, someone who loves the trees and nature in general. I had also been having an itch to use the cape for sometime now, but I couldn't find pieces and an outfit to pair it with. It turns out the outfit idea, one with trees, and the cape, went well together. I started off the with the robe. I wanted to work with it, even with the intricacy of the design inlaid into the fabric, it was also simple enough. I finally realized the cape would work well with the robe, as they were both flowy, had blues and yellows, and both had some runes and inscriptions on them.  The idea behind this outfit is a rich townsperson, someone who has money to spare, and time to give. In the words of my brother, "the outfit looks like it is for someone who is going to trade stocks".  For the female version of the outfit, I chose the dress, as when dyed white, it turned into a rich grey color, and didn't look too wintry. The shoulder guards added a very expensive feel to the outfit, and I finished off with a fancy and regal circlet.  I've considered doing a male/female outfit for sometime now, but it has taken me quite sometime to find pieces that complimented one another while staying true to the suggested gender. I finally decided that two Extravagant pieces from a Yule festival quest line would work perfectly, along with the Gwir-palvais shoulders.  The region of Angmar is filled with foul and horrible creatures; cargul, spiders, wargs, trolls... and much more. Carn Dum is the epitome of that evil. It is a dark place, with a poison green sky and foul air.  There are few who are brave enough to adventure into the dark of Carn Dum, but those who do are those who hold the evil at bay. I started off the with hauberk, which has a grey, black, and a yellowy-gold base. It has a very unique chest design, and that's what caught my eye in it. I then added the gloves and boots, both of which are fit for combat, and are black. The boots do have a small dagger placed on the side, for use if needed. The circlet is one of my favorite in-game, but usually it is so exspensive in the Auction Hall. I was lucky enough to find a cheap one, and I snatched it up quickly. I love dresses. I love the feminine feel that they give, and the gorgeous simplicity that they offer. This dress offers all those things, but actually even more, with the incredible lacy texture. After using the gown as the base, I chose to use one of my favorite fancy cloaks, and it looked gorgeous. A fellow cosmetic blogger once said to me that this cloak is one of the hardest to use cosmetics, and I totally agree. Because of the many tiers, and the crazy amount of gradient colors, it is a weird but gorgeous design. I wanted a pair of shoulder guards that were pretty but unique, a pair I had barely seen used in the cosmetic world. I was going through Classic skirm camp barter, and well, these shoulders came up. I have never, ever seen these used in an outfit, they are a unique and cool design, and they dye gorgeously. I finally finished off with a pretty and simple circlet for a pop of gold.  Sometime ago, I made and posted an outfit titled Ranger of Smoke & Flame , and I now decided to make a follow up outfit, for the ranger who protects the colder areas of the world. This outfit features a base of grey and white, with subtle browns as highlights, which is good for blending in with snow, frozen ground, and wintry trees. I began with the helmet. Acquired from a Dunland epic quest, this helm features a cloth base, with a metal plated face-piece. The hauberk features grey, white, and browns, with stitching, chainmail, and belts. The shoulder guards features browns, with a bit of grey, and a very unique pattern. I finished off the outfit with simple chainmail gloves and a pair of platesteel boots.  I started off this week's outfit with no actual purpose to it, and not really any plan behind it. I had this nice looking hauberk sitting in my vault, and I really wanted to use it, but I couldn't really find the perfect pieces to match it, so it stayed in the vault. A couple days ago, I was at the auction hall and I came across this hood for a fairly cheap price, and I quickly snatched it up. I ended up buying multiple pieces that day, and finishing up an outfit using the hauberk from ages ago. I originally started out with all the pieces dyed walnut brown, but then I mounted up on my current favorite horse, and I realized that if I dyed only a few pieces, the outfit would match the horse almost perfectly.  The hood and shoulder guards happen to be from the same set, with the same going for the gloves and boots, but there are certain things that help them match and go quite well with the outfit as a whole.
