A beta newbie's first thoughts and comments about beta

Image
The intro... the only time you're under level 95.  Today is a very important day in my time as a LOTRO player. Today is marked as my first day ever testing (and playing) Lord of the Rings Online Beta. So here are my thoughts, comments, and more about LOTRO beta. I started off by creating a "version" of Makaia, at least the Bullroarer version of her. I named her Mak, and this Mak looked almost identical to live Makaia. All in all, the intro and getting into the Eyes & Guard Tavern was fairly simple. The super quick and easy auto-leveling was quite fun, and I had a little too much fun watching myself hit level 95 for the first time, though I know the feeling will be nothing like actually hitting level 95 on live. Meet my first EVER warsteed, Alderi. I'm actually planning on naming my warsteed on live server the same thing.  Acquiring simple things, such as turbine points, mithril, marks & medallions, and even gold, was super easy, and as long as y...

Of the Quiet Path - Region Series Part III

Image
The land of Evendim is a large percentage water, and from water comes so many uncountable shades of blue, white, gray, and green, and depending on the light, even gold. I'm continuing my region inspired series with one of my all time favorite regions of Middle-earth: Evendim. Evendim is just so... beautiful. With the majestic ruins, the almost endless lake, and the pure beauty of the region, it is nearly impossible for the region to not fill you with awe. This outfit sprung out of the water, not literally, but figuratively. The colors and flowing nature of the outfit was inspired by the soft lap of the waves on the shore. I started off this outfit with only two pieces, the cloak and the hauberk. I loved how well they went together color-wise, and how the soft lines of gold matched the other pieces almost perfectly. Then, it was time for me to start a search: a search to find the perfect pieces to compliment a perfect pair. The boots were chosen next, mainly because of th...

Crafted Sets with Cosmetic Value: Part 3

Image
I have started to realize how enjoyable the two earlier cosmetic value posts have been, and I have decided to continue the series with some of my absolute favorite cosmetics: one of the Rohan crafted sets. A little while ago, I decided to create a character on Landroval for the sole purpose of learning how to role-play. She is a race of man hailing from Rohan, specifically Snowbourn, and she loves animals, and is for that reason a lore-master. I've so far loved the community on Landroval, and I am really excited to experience more of it (and tons of it at Weatherstock on Saturday!) I don't think I would have ever shown this cosmetic set on this specific character, except for the kindness that was shown on someone who I consider my role-play mentor, and he offered to craft me this set. This set features loads of really interesting details, starting from the helm all the way to the boots. The helmet features incredible detailing, from subtle wings on the sides, to an ...

Friend of the North - Region Series Part II

Forochel has been a favorite region of mine for quite a while now - minus the frostbite causing water - and I like it because it is one of the few regions in Middle-earth that are completely covered in snow. From the people, to the landscape, to the monsters, it is very unique and interesting. The capitol of this frozen wasteland, Suri-kyla, rests in the northern part of the region, and boasts quite a lot of color to make up for the bleak and drab color of its surroundings. It has tons of blues and oranges, and loads of brown wood and such.  Generally speaking, this is my second outfit based off of a region. The first region based outfit was based off Angmar, and the link is right here. I enjoyed making that outfit, and I heartily enjoyed making this outfit, so I have decided to make it as series!  This outfit highlights all of the colors in Suri-kyla, starting with the browns and oranges of the buildings. The cloak, gloves, boots, shoulders, and sections ...
