Blood of Honor

Image
"Fealty with love, valor with honor, oath-breaking with vengeance."  For me, pairing helmets with an outfit has always been hard. I absolutely adore the hairstyle that Makaia sports, and even when my shield-maiden guardian is in battle, I like to think of her as a tiara-wearing warrior. But through it all, there has been one helmet caught my eye, and kept my attention: the Ceremonial Helm of the Gloom-bane. The incredible intricacy of it has made it the one helmet that Makaia will now always wear in battle. Despite the fact that the helm is my favorite part of this outfit, the main inspiration for the whole set was the breastplate. In December, I did quite a lot of skirmishes, acquired all too many marks and medallions, and started to go through the cosmetics available at the skirmish camp. I came across the breastplate, and picked up two other pieces from the set that I liked as well: the gauntlets and boots.  The shoulder guards were quite a spontaneous p...

Hailing from Elvin Lands

Image
“O Elbereth! Gilthoniel! We still remember, we who dwell i n this far land beneath the trees. Thy starlight on the Western Seas.”  My little elf main is proudly an elf, hailing from the woodland realm of Mirkwood. In the last week or so, I made up my mind to finally finish Volume I, and I did! During that process, I picked up some lovely cosmetic pieces from quest rewards, and I knew when I got this cloak that it might work very well as a cosmetic piece. Even though it might look silly (it has a rabbit on the back of it, for goodness sake!), it screamed "elf!". Thus I made a green, elf like cosmetic outfit that differs greatly from the last "elf" cosmetic outfit I posted, the Colors of Spring , that reminded me a bit of Tauriel from the new Hobbit film (despite the fact she isn't a Tolkien character). The green main color, plus the bits of brown leather, seemed like something a huntress would wear, though sadly, my highest level hunter is level 13 and ...

Blazing Fire

To be honest, it has taken me a little bit of time to build up the courage to post this. When I first started my cosmetic blog, my blog was named something else, and I uploaded this outfit actually as the first outfit. This is the first cosmetic outfit I ever designed, and let's just say that it was incredibly weird to re-equip this outfit after wearing different ones for so long. I feel like most of my outfits on here are very, very simple, and I promise I will be posting a more intricate outfit next week! When I first began designing cosmetic outfits, I literally went as simplistic as possible. At the time, I didn't know how to "try on" other pieces other than those from the outfitter, and so I spent a lot of time at the Bree-town outfitter and occasionally would do some skirms to grab some marks so then I could go to the skirmish camp. I picked up a simplistic hauberk at the outfitter, and the cape.. well.. The cape is one avaliable at the skirmish cam...

The Colors of Spring

Image
Makaia decided that the best time to blink was right when I was taking the headshot. Thanks Mak. The title of this post may be a little silly - in the Northern Hemisphere there is cold temperatures and at the moment it feels like spring will never come. But I do infact love the colder weather at the moment. But one thing I realized was that it's always springtime in Lorien! There is always sunshine and beautiful colored trees and beauty all around.  Last week Turbine was giving away a wonderful coupon code for one free cosmetic piece from the LOTRO store of your choice, and I sprung upon that opportunity very quickly. After a good hour or so of looking through all the cosmetics available, re-looking through them, and asking kin mates which one they suggested, I finally decided upon the Cloak of the Dove. It is a beautiful, airy like cloak that is so perfect for any elf - or any race for that matter. I took the opportunity of having a lovely cloak to pick out a dres...

Lady of Frost - Yule Special

Image
I would quickly like to apologize for getting this up late. I had scheduled this to post on Tuesday, while I was away visiting family for the Christmas holidays, but it never posted! I am very sorry about this! Yule Festival is officially my favorite LOTRO festival of all time. First off, the Winter Holiday season is my favorite time of the year. The snow, the Christmas trees, the presents, the food, the overall cheer. So every year, the Yule Festival makes me so excited to head back into Frostbluff, and participate in plays, build snowmen, disperse small snow storms, and more. But another reason I love this festival is because of the cosmetics: the Yule Festival cosmetics are absolutely magnificent. Sadly, the new cosmetics this year are very few in number, so I had to go for some cosmetics from previous years (but are still available from the vendors this year).  This style of shoulder pads is seriously wonderful, they are a sleek and very simple shoulder pad, but the c...

Warden of Rohan

Image
This my first post featuring a male model, and this week the model is my brother's warden! Even though my brother is definitely not a cosmetics person, he has still put together quite a nice outfit. A quick note on the name - yes, even though his warden is an elf, my brother and I decided on Warden of Rohan because of the lovely helm that is part of the piece. headshots :) The first thing I would like to talk about is the absolutely magnificent helmet. This helmet is available from the LOTRO store for turbine points, but I definitely think it is worth all the points you spend. The lovely horsehair like top fluff is such a staple piece of the Rohirric armour, and I seriously just love everything Rohan related :) the castles in Evendim are so lovely! saluting... what, I'm not sure.  The shoulder guards and the hauberk are both lovely LOTRO store pieces, but they are also worth all the points that you might pay for them. I specifically like how the there is a main...
