Blood of Honor

 For me, pairing helmets with an outfit has always been hard. I absolutely adore the hairstyle that Makaia sports, and even when my shield-maiden guardian is in battle, I like to think of her as a tiara-wearing warrior.

But through it all, there has been one helmet caught my eye, and kept my attention: the Ceremonial Helm of the Gloom-bane. The incredible intricacy of it has made it the one helmet that Makaia will now always wear in battle.

Despite the fact that the helm is my favorite part of this outfit, the main inspiration for the whole set was the breastplate. In December, I did quite a lot of skirmishes, acquired all too many marks and medallions, and started to go through the cosmetics available at the skirmish camp. I came across the breastplate, and picked up two other pieces from the set that I liked as well: the gauntlets and boots.

 The shoulder guards were quite a spontaneous purchase, and despite the fact that they are not a part of the Dragon-scale set, they fall together perfectly.

The lovely cape, which somehow perfectly matched, was one of the many rewards I picked up when I finished Volume I.

    Wonderful use for the Cloak of Mordirith's Bane! I often ignore it because it's undyeable and often clashes with many pieces. However, it's a great pairing for the breastplate...it matches the violet shades found in the underarm regions without overpowering the other pieces : )

Bleak as Winter - Region Series Part V

When I was posting on this blog on a consistent basis, the  Region Series  was my favorite series I've ever worked on. I also had two other series' on this blog,  Crafted Sets with Cosmetic Value  and  Matching A Steed , but the region series was truly my favorite. There's something so magical about taking a region, an entire region, and trying to form an outfit inspired by that region. It is truly a difficult task. Every single region is so unique and diverse, and while it may maintain the same general feel, every single village or homestead within that region each has its own flair. Dragon Scale

It's been such a joy as of late to working on outfits again. Nowadays, whether I'm running dailies or doing quests or really doing anything in game, I'm constantly thinking about what sort of outfits I could do inspired by the region I'm in, or what sort of screenshots I could take. When I took my blog hiatus I focused so much on getting a character to cap (which I was able to do.. twice), and then gearing said characters for end game content. Even though both characters aren't tier 2 ready yet, it's been very fun having different things to work on in game, not just leveling and gearing.  This outfit is fully based around the absolutely beautiful Draigoch cloak my friend and fellow cosmetic blogger Nathrien so kindly gifted me.  In comparison to the cloak, I wanted everything else to be simple, or at least I tried. Spring in the Sutcrofts

 Being below level cap definitely has its drawbacks, not being able to actually feel safe in higher level areas, not having access to all cosmetic pieces, and many more, but I have found that even being in the mid-60's level wise, I can get access to almost all of the things I could get at level cap, including journeying into Rohan... and almost western Rohan. I started looking around Middle-earth for a proper place for this outfit, one that would compliment the outfit with overpowering it, but nothing seemed to work. The Shire had too many flowers, and all places that were white had snow. So, I was about to give up on this outfit. But, Mak's adopted mother (and part-time travel agent and pilot), brought me down to Rohan, and right there, in Rohan, was the perfect scenery.
